Liability:
Malpractice/Medical Liability Litigation: malpractice and related litigation is a western concept and is not an issue in many foreign countries. In most cases, therefore, it is not an issue that is required to be addressed. However, for medical students going on electives in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or other countries with a more western approach (or where the rotation involves doing work in a hospital), medical students must check with the individual host or sponsor prior to departure to ensure that all requirements have been met.
Personal: no student will be allowed to undertake a rotation of this type without signing the ECU liability waiver form ("hold harmless" agreement).
