Technology in Education

At Brody SOM, we are endeavoring to use computers, personal digital assistance (PDA) devices, and other forms of technology as a substantive part of our educational methodologies. Examples of IT use in the curriculum include audience response systems, clinical simulation, computer-assisted instructional programs and software indexing. Many of our courses have management sites on the ECU Blackboard system, so that delivery of documents and certain types of content to students is made easier. We are also beginning to explore the use of video streaming lecture for capture of lecture material for subsequent reference by students, as a means of enhancing study and test preparation. Our students also train on computerized patient order entry systems and have access to electronic medical record technologies.
