| Marcy Romary Marcy is the Interim Executive Director for Health Sciences Development and Director of Women's Philanthropy. Along with managing the development program for the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation, Marcy directs the Women's Roundtable at East Carolina University. Marcy will celebrate her 10th anniversary with ECU in 2013 and she has previously served as the Major Gifts Officer for both the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Performance. |
Mark Alexander, '04 Mark is the director of development for the College of Nursing and has served in this capacity since January 2007. He is responsible for the fund raising program for the college as well as overseeing the scholarship program. He is a 2004 graduate of ECU, earning a B.S. in economics. He is currently taking classes at ECU to pursue a master's degree in public administration with a concentration in non-profit management. |
Patrice M. Frede Pat's primary responsibility is to garner financial support for the College of Allied Health Sciences by matching prospective donors' objectives to existing critical needs. She has a B.S. in psychology from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin. Pat is also a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve and was recalled to active service from August 2009 to October 2010. She served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. |
Karen H. Cobb Karen is the director of annual giving and alumni/parent relations for the Brody School of Medicine and works closely with alumni and students. Karen is responsible for the BSOM Alumni Journal, class reunions and oversees the annual mailing campaigns. Karen has been with ECU since 2008 and previously served as director of development at NC Wesleyan College. |
Kristen Ward Kristen is the director of development for the School of Dental Medicine. Previously, Kristen served as associate director of development at North Carolina Wesleyan College and director of development for the American Red Cross. She has a B.A. in English and psychology and a non-profit management certificate from Duke University. |
Renee Safford-White, '10 Renee is part of the foundation team serving as the annual fund coordinator. She is also the liaison for the Brody Scholar Program. Renee has more than 15 years of experience working at ECU as an executive assistant and working with special events. She graduated in 2010 with a B.S. in business education, earned her M.B.A. in November 2011, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Administration and Policy. |
Elizabeth K. Briney, '04 Elizabeth is the executive assistant to the president. She works closely with the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation board of directors and is responsible for the administration of board activities. Elizabeth is a 2004 graduate of ECU with a B.S. in child development and family relations and has worked at ECU since January 2006. |
Candace Darden As a part of the team, Candace is responsible for the management of all aspects of personnel administration for the foundation. She also assists with fund raising support and publication design. She graduated from Mount Olive College with a B.S. in business administration and organizational development. Candace has been with ECU since April 2007. |
Allison Brown Cavanaugh Allison provides administrative support in a number of critical areas. Her voice is often the first one you hear when you call the foundation. Her responsibilities include data coordination, gift processing and development support. Allison has been with the foundation for 11 years. |
Financial Services
Britt Sholar Britt Sholar is a 2008 ECU College of Business graduate, where he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science in Accounting. He is the Controller for both the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and the ECU Alumni Association. Prior to joining the financial services team in March of 2012, Britt spent 4 years in public accounting as an auditor for Dixon Hughes Goodman. He is a CPA and originally from Chinquapin, NC. |
| Mandy King Mandy King is part of the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation financial services team, serving the University since 2003, having served several years as an accountant for the ECU Foundation. Mandy is a graduate of Texas A&M University. |
Julia Sligar Julia is part of the financial services team, serving as the administrative support specialist for the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation. She processes accounts payable and a number of critical reports. Julia is a graduate of Georgia State University and has been with the foundation for more than six years. |
