She works in several outpatient settings within the university and also gives lectures to child psychiatry fellows and medical students. She says that the Brody Scholarship is very meaningful to her in many ways. It provided financial support, but more importantly it helped her feel more confident in her abilities and increased her desire to serve others. Starting medical school she anticipated she would stay in North Carolina and become a family practice doctor, but working with children with emotional and metal health problems stole her heart. She has kept her primary care roots though and works with several pediatricians and developmental pediatricians. The University of New Mexico School of Medicine has a circuit riders program in which faculty are paired with medical students who are doing part of their training at primary care sites in rural New Mexico. Whenever she participates she is reminded of her time in Greenville and working with pediatricians and family practice doctors in rural settings and how important that was to her growth and development. The Brody Scholarship enabled her to receive a medical education at a wonderful medical school and she will be always grateful for that great gift!

There are no words of gratitude that could ever repay them for the opportunities he was afforded.
Gene Brown, MD
Dr. Brown lives in Mount Pleasant, SC, and works at Charleston Ear, Nose and Throat Associates in Charleston, SC. The Brody family must be so proud to have influenced so many lives in such a powerful way.
