Cancer: Chaos in the Cell

Understanding and conquering the many forms of cancer remain challenges in medicine today. This class will describe the epidemiology of cancer in eastern North Carolina. You will learn about state of the art approaches to the treatment of cancer as well as the importance of prevention. You will select from workshops designed to help you explain to others radiation and gamma knife treatments; or the tools of modern medical education including Physical Teaching Associates to introduce you to a component of the physical exam using the body as a teaching tool; high fidelity simulators to provide training in high stress situations, and robotic trainers. Workshops will be repeated September 24.

A display of health information will be provided by Ms. Beth Ketterman, Laupus Library outreach librarian.
