The East Carolina College of Nursing creates an international impact through service projects around the globe, as well as domestic and local activities that support and promote cultural competency. Through service, faculty leverages expertise, enhances practice, and encourages scholarly activity with colleagues around the world.
Professor Cheryl Elhammoumi was an invited guest lecturer at Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa, Finland in May 2012. As part of their elder care education and celebration, Professor Elhammoumi presented information on elder care in the US to their international nursing program. The nursing department at Novia University is interested in developing an exchange with ECU CON that would involve faculty and students. Professor Elhammoumi will be returning to Finland to teach and to further discussions pertaining to a formal agreement between our schools.
Academic exchange with FSIL School of Nursing in Haiti; Dr. Sanderson and Allison Hope traveled to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, establishing an academic exchange and much-needed IT expertise for the school’s damaged computer system.
