At ECU Women’s Physicians, certified nurse midwives provide excellent care to women of all ages and cultural backgrounds. We can meet a woman’s health care needs during pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, family planning and annual gynecologic exams. We focus on a woman’s transition to motherhood as a normal physiologic event incorporating the family into the care provided. We encourage active participation of the woman and her family in the decision making process necessary for the kind of birthing experience she wants. We support breastfeeding through education, counseling services, and direct access to a nurse-midwife for any problems or questions a new mother may have.

We listen to women, believing that she will often be the one who knows her needs best. We offer education of treatment options, discussing risks and benefits, so a woman can make an informed choice as to which fits her individual lifestyle. Nurse midwives are dedicated to helping women become and stay informed, improving their health through all of life’s transitions.
