Five faculty members attended the conference and most of those presented at the conference. Most exciting were two posters that resulted from research from graduate student’s research projects. Dr. Anne Dickerson represented the four student authors of the poster On the Road to Safety: Standardizing the RT-2S Brake Reaction Time Tester. The student researchers were Meredith Parnell, Stephanie Robinson, Kristin Stone, and Kristin Whitley. Research Poster on brake Reaction Timer: Research by students Dr. Leonard Trujillo also had a poster: Improving Finger Dexterity in Older Adults with the Interactive Metronome as Primary Intervention. His student contributors include Lindsay Alspaugh, Sandy Gant, and Amanda Garner. Drs. Anne Dickerson, Leonard Trujillo and Tim Reistetter Dr. Anne Dickerson and Dr. Timothy Reistetter presented a research paper on Friday afternoon to a full crowd! They spoke about their research and how Occupational Therapists can Screen Drivers without Getting Behind the Wheel. This paper was part of a panel of three papers on Driving and Community Mobility. Dr. Leonard Trujillo was also an author on the paper. First picture below: Dr. Anne Dickerson (NC), Dr. Paula Bohr (MO), Elin Schold-Davis (MN), and Pam Toto (PA) were the key presenters for this AOTA Institute. Second picture below: Letha Mosely (AK), Rory Fluman (NY), and Jane Painter (NC) assisted with the three large groups of CarFit participants. As a leader in Driving and Community Mobility, Dr. Anne Dickerson was invited to be one of the key presenters in the AOTA institute: CarFit Technician Training: Occupational Therapy’s Role in This Community Event. This successful event was completely booked two weeks after the conference program was mailed. With completion of this presentation, Dr. Dickerson becomes one of the few occupational therapists who are instructors in the CarFit program and able to train technicians and event coordinators for the program. Dr. Jane Painter also assisted with the institute by working as one of the session’s group coordinators.
