5/22/12 - Dr. Matthew Block, Board Certified Cardiologist in Laurinburg, North Carolina seeks a physician's assistant to assist in the care of patient's in the office and hospital setting.

Dr. Block is the sole practitioner in Scotland Cardiology, which was begun by him in 2001 and is now in its 11th year.  The practice consists of providing cardiology and general medical care to established and new adult patients.  This is a stable, busy, well-respected and growing practice.  Due to the growth of the practice, Dr. Block is seeking a personable and responsible certified PA to work alongside him in delivering high quality patient-centered care.  The patients will have a variety of cardiovascular and medical conditions such as CHF, CAD, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidemia.  The office performs ekg's, echocardiograms, stress testing (both treadmill and nuclear), a Coumadin clinic, and pacemaker and defibrillator clinic.  Dr Block performs cardioversions, transesophageal echocardiograms, tilt table testing and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations at Scotland Memorial Hospital and it is not anticipated that the PA will be involved in these hospital procedures.  Though Scotland Cardiology has a large referral base of over 30 providers in Scotland and Robeson Counties in North Carolina and Marlboro County in South Carolina, there is only the one office and one hospital in Laurinburg that patient's are seen in.

The work hours are 8 to 5, Monday thru Friday with no weekend or night duties.  The PA will be expected to see up to 15 patients total daily, most of these will be in the clinic. Currently, the practice sees approximately 25-30 patients daily.  The PA will be expected, after an ample period of orientation and training alongside Dr Block, to see patient's in the hospital, Scotland Memorial Hospital, which is within walking distance of the clinic.  The PA will, after ample training and supervision, assist in cardiac stress tests.  No other procedures by the PA are anticipated.

Experience in a cardiology practice is not necessary.  New graduates are encouraged to apply.  The salary and benefit package is highly competitive.  The start date is as soon as possible.
