Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory
The Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is a part of the Division of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics. It is a full-service laboratory offering both conventional and molecular cytogenetic services. The ECU Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory is directed by a board-certified clinical cytogeneticist and staffed by specially trained medical technology professionals. It provides physicians and patients the highest quality of clinical cytogenetic services available. The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and serves an academic function for the Brody School of Medicine and Pitt county Memorial Hospital by helping to train medical students and residents.

Test Results
Turnaround times for all tests are well below those mandated by the CAP, and results are rapidly available. Abnormal results are quickly reported by telephone to the referral source.
Sending Specimens for Testing
We furnish the supplies and instructions for specimen collection and overnight shipping without charge. In the Greenville area, we have a free courier service available to pick up samples.
