Photo of dietician with clients. The Pediatric Healthy Weight clinic primarily serves youth in eastern North Carolina due to the great need for services for local children and adolescents, a limited number of appointment slots, and the need for multiple follow-up appointments.

Interested Families
If your child is overweight, and you would like to have him or her assessed, please talk with your family doctor or pediatrician about your concerns. Ask your physician to make a referral to the ECU Pediatric Healthy Weight clinic (see below).

Provider Referrals
Primary care providers in eastern North Carolina can make referrals for the Pediatric Healthy Weight Clinic by calling (252) 744-3538 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Referral forms may also be faxed to (252) 744-3297.

Once referrals are made, our staff will contact the family to schedule an initial appointment, which typically last 2 to 4 hours. After completion of the evaluation, additional visits will be scheduled every three months, and the patient's primary care provider will receive a detailed letter describing the evaluation results and recommended treatment plan.
