The social environment, including families, peers, neighborhoods, faith-based organizations, schools and virtual communities/the Internet, has an enormous impact on the lifelong weight-related habits children establish as well as their thoughts and perceptions about food, activity and their bodies. The 7th annual summit will examine the role the social environment plays in the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.
Summit Objectives
The goals for the summit are to:
- Learn about elements of the social environment that influence weight-related lifestyle habits in children;
- Showcase community and clinical programs that address aspects of the social environment for the prevention and treatment of obesity;
- Provide participants with skills to engage elements of the social environment as positive vehicles for healthy lifestyle change.
Call for Abstracts -- Due December 16, 2009
Submit an abstract for poster presentation at the 7th Annual Summit today! The Planning Committee welcomes abstracts that address any of the three objectives for the program. All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee. Selected posters will be displayed throughout the day and during a dedicated poster session immediately following lunch.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Notice of abstract selection is anticipated by January 18, 2010.
