Our Mission
Training in the medical and healthcare fields is extremely stressful. Students in this academic arena experience many unique hurdles that may challenge success. The time dedicated to achieving professional and academic goals may require learning new problem solving skills. To aid in the development of these skills, Personal Counseling Services’s (PCS) mission seeks to provide students with confidential counseling and psychiatric services designed to assess sources of stress, facilitate personal and academic growth, develop improved coping strategies, and serve as an advocacy service for students.
PCS also provides outreach programs and consultation services to students, faculty and staff, classroom teaching, and training. The staff of PCS is committed to providing services to all health science students in a manner that recognizes, respects, and values everyone's personal background, beliefs, and abilities in a manner that supports resolution of personal and academic crises.
