Research pursued in this laboratory aims at the understanding of the physiological processes involved in cardiovascular neurobiology. Roles of estrogen and its receptors, and nitric oxide in neutral control of cardiovascular function are studied. Studies are also undertaken on the effect of ethanol on neuronal circuitry, plasticity and chemistry in central cardiovascular areas to trace central pathways involved in the hemodynamic action of ethanol on molecular basis. Signal transduction and molecular biology studies are undertaken to complement the integrative cardiovascular investigations.
