The SBRP provides a unique opportunity for undergraduates to engage in basic science research at the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) and Vidant Medical Center. Faculty conducting research in the areas of Anatomy & Cell Biology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Microbiology & Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Physiology, Health Disparities and Clinical Research will prepare students to address scientific questions using cutting-edge experimental approaches.
Students selected for the SBRP will be paired with Brody faculty based upon mutual interest. Students will participate in various activities including a mock graduate/ medical school interview, a one-on-one career counseling session with basic science or clinical faculty, and students will present a poster of their research findings at the conclusion of the program. In addition, students will compose a professional/graduate school essay, develop a curriculum vitae, and take part in statistical analysis workshops.
