East Carolina University's Department of Surgery offers three fellowships:
Acute Care Surgery
The Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University represents a unique and comprehensive learning experience. The ACS Fellowship encompasses an educational experience noted for intensity, breadth of traumatic and surgical critical illness, and an innovative curriculum. In addition, we’ve created a fellowship notable for malleability; while adhering to ACGME and AAST standards, the learning experience of each fellow is individualized to best suit his or her needs and future aspirations.
The East Carolina University Bariatric Surgery and Minimally Invasive Fellowship provides advanced training in all phases of minimally invasive surgery. For years our department has been a leader in the field bariatric surgery. Our surgeons have made significant contributions to the field of minimally invasive surgery over the past few years, particularly in the areas of Robotic Surgery. At the completion of this one year fellowship, the fellow will be prepared for a career in either private or academic practice minimally invasive surgery.
The Section of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at East Carolina University is currently accepting applications for Vascular Surgery fellowship training in a (5+2) program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This new two-year program will accept one fellow each year, with a position opening July 1, 2013. The NRMP will be utilized for trainees beginning the 2013 training year, however we know we have a very late start.
