Who Can Attend Take Off 4-Health?

• Boys and girls
• Kids 12 to 18 years of age
• Kids with a body mass index (BMI) over the 85th percentile

Take Off 4-Health is a partnership between East Carolina University, North Carolina 4-H and North Carolina Cooperative Extension.

• East Carolina University provides medical leadership and support, menu development for TO4H, nutrition and physical activity programming, and group and individual cognitive/behavioral therapy.
  
  
• NC 4-H provides the camp facilities, day-to-day supervision of campers, traditional camp programming and camper enrollment.
  
  
• NCCES provides guidance on the nutrition programming, nutrition and physical activity resources and nutrition teaching staff.

Take Off 4-Health is held in Columbia, North Carolina on 250-acres facing beautiful Bulls Bay and includes woodlands, meadows, pocosin forests, wetlands, creeks and rivers. Boardwalks, nature trails and boat piers give easy access to natural areas. The camp is about an hour and 45 minutes from Greenville, North Carolina and is 45 minutes from Manteo and the North Carolina Outer Banks.

The state-of-the-art facility offers climate-controlled living quarters with private showers and flush toilets. While the outdoors provides an optimal background for education and recreation, bright music and art centers, a well-equipped science lab and a brand new gymnasium complex offer year-round experiences in fun and learning.
