While at Take Off 4-Health, campers take classes to learn healthy lifestyle habits and to address any psychological and/or behavioral issues that make weight loss difficult. Unlike most “fat camps,” Take Off 4-Health focuses on helping campers make small sustainable changes that will assist them in achieving a healthier weight over the long haul. Classes include:
- Six interactive nutrition classes
- Six group counseling sessions
- Six cognitive-behavioral sessions
- Three physical activity classes
Campers also work with lifestyle coaches to set nutrition and physical activity goals while at camp. They keep a log of their steps and food choices in a spiral-bound recording booklet and meet daily with lifestyle coaches to review goals and progress. These meetings are a great opportunity to examine how campers are doing and make any needed changes to their goals and strategies.
