Campers participate in six interactive nutrition classes taught by NC Cooperative Extension agents and the Nutrition Coach. Each class covers a basic nutrition topic to help campers make healthy food choices. Each lesson includes a brief presentation on the topic and a fun, hands-on activity. Topics include:

  • Use of “camper cards” to guide food choices
  • The Stoplight Food Guide
  • Label Reading
  • Portion control
  • Healthy drink choices
  • Increasing fruits and vegetable consumption
  • Tips for eating out

Each nutrition class has an accompanying handout that contains helpful tips for the campers. Click on the links below to download a copy of each handout.
