The Facts are alarming
Children are victims in 70% of all reported sexual assaults, including those on adults. In more than 90% of these cases, the abuser is someone the child knows and trust. In America, there are over 42 million adult survivor of sexual abuse walking among us. In seconds their childhood was shattered, their innocence stolen forever.
If you have any responsibility or involvement with children this training is for you. Learn how to keep your children safe and protected against sexual abuse.
Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that helps adults prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program believes and teaches that child safety is an adult's job.
Free 2.5-hour training program, given by TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center and sponsored by NC Children's Trust Fund and Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation, integrates the simple principles of choice, consciousness, and personal power to promote an understanding of the nature and impact of child sexual abuse, and uses those principles to provide a context for empowered action. The curriculum is direct about holding each adult accountable, and generous in providing powerful, specific support for personal change.
Stewards of Children is designed for any adult responsible for or involved with children.
Core Features of the Stewards of Children Training:
- A video integrating segments of sexual abuse survivors relating their stories of violation and healing, with segments from the author of the curriculum and from professionals who interface daily with the problem of sexual abuse.
- Educational information and resources for each participant to take with them.
- Discussion about critical issues in sexual abuse prevention and the relevance of these issues within organizations that serve children and adolescents. Led by our authorized facilitators.
