Registering to Receive ECU Alerts

East Carolina University uses a wide variety of communication tools available to notify students, staff, faculty and the local community about campus emergencies and critical information. The ECU web page is one of the most up-to-date forms of information during an emergency.

We understand that family members and people in the community may wish to receive direct notification of campus emergencies as well. Please be aware that even though you register, you will not receive every communication we send to students, staff and faculty.
  • Notices to families and members of the community will likely include follow-up details or updates on a situation. Our first priority is to rapidly relay information to our students, staff, and faculty.
  • By registering for this service, you are agreeing to incur any text message charges from your service provider. There is no charge from ECU.
  • By registering, you are also consenting to ECU sharing this information with the university's service providers Rave Mobile Safety, and Witt-O'Brien, Inc. for the sole purpose of providing ECU’s emergency messaging system. This information will not be shared with any other parties, and no advertising is sent.
  • Once registered, you may discontinue the ECU TextAlert service at any time by replying "STOP" to a text message. To change your email address, or be removed from the email list in the future, send an email to ecualertinfo@ecu.edu.

Parent/Family Note: Do not send duplicate registrations. Do not register different phone numbers or people with the same email address. Doing so will cause an error in the system and you may not receive messages. If your email address or cell phone number has changed, please send an email to ecualertinfo@ecu.edu. Please also note that families will not be sent messages about weather-related delays or closings, and will only be notified about major emergency situations.
