Art As Avocation, a new series of exhibits showcasing the artistic talents of faculty, staff and students from the ECU Division of Health Sciences, is presented by Laupus Library. The exhibits will change about every six to eight weeks to highlight one or more artists.

The Grammy-Award winning artist, Chris Botti will perform at ECU Feb. 9 as part of the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series 50th anniversary season.

Joanne Bath, violin, and Charles Bath, piano, will be the featured performers during this ECU School of Music faculty recital. This is a free concert and open to the public.

This is presentation by Dr. James Morrow Jr., will highlight his research and recent public health recommendations to emphasis resistance training as a part of physical activity which leads to higher levels of muscular strength. This type of training and the benefits in women is the focus of this presentation.

The office of Student Activities and Organizations will present "Party to a Murder," a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre program at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Great Rooms, Mendenhall Student Center.

Discussion about languages at ECU and around the world, documentary film-screening of "Languages Lost and Found" by Iris Brooks and Jon H. Davis, followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.

The ECU School of Music Chamber Singers will present a free concert at Peace Presbyterian Church.

The East Carolina University School of Music Jazz Studies Program and the Hilton Greenville present the annual Tribute to Motown Show as a Black History Month concert celebrating African-Americans' many contributions to the music world on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. at Wright Auditorium.

Spring 2012 Medical History Interest Group Presentation

Kevin M. Churchwell, M.D., will be the keynote speaker for the 28th Annual Andrew A. Best, M.D., Senior Recognition Banquet on March 3. He is CEO of Nemours/Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

The Jarvis Lecture on Christianity and Culture will feature Dr. J. Kameron Carter, associate professor of theology and Black church studies at Duke University.

This NewMusic Festival concert will feature the piano duo, Bugallo-Williams. This is a free concert and open to the public.

Ballet Memphis will perform at ECU March 15 as part of the S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series 50th anniversary season.

The JACK Quartet will be the featured performers during this NewMusic Festival free concert at 7:30 p.m. March 16.

Spring 2012 Medical History Interest Group Presentation

The Symposium will have presentations from leading national experts on topics including: * The emerging national standard of care for threat management teams. * What everyone on your campus must know, must learn and must be doing when it comes to Title IX. * Responding to emergencies and emergency notification in a crisis. A senior police official from Virginia Tech will speak about protocols and responses that will save lives. *Legal and skills updates.

ECU's Family Fare series will present ECU Storybook Theatre's "The Secret Garden" at 7 p.m. March 30.

The Brody School of Medicine and the College of Nursing present a Readers' Theater presentation and discussion of "The Doctors of Hoyland" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, adapted for Readers' Theater by Greg Watkins.

The filmmaker will be available for questions and discussion after the screening of "My Perestroika." This is a free event.
