The ECU Summer Guitar Workshop is open to students ages 12 and older who wish to acquire or improve classical guitar skills. The workshop draws students from across the United States and abroad.
The Concert Series features the artist-faculty, nationally-and internationally-known concert artists and teachers. Students have lessons with these artists, and area music aficionados can hear these musicians perform. Concerts will feature 2009 solo competition winner Chad Ibison, workshop director Elliot Frank, Duo Spiritoso (Andrew Zohn and Jeffrey McFadden), The Isaac Bustos/Mitch Weverka Duo, American virtuoso Jason Vieaux, Stephen Aron and the Italian guitarists Solo Duo (Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela). On Monday, July 26, young guitarists will compete in the finals of the ECU Solo Guitar Competition. Students will compete for cash awards, a hand-made classical guitar by luthier Travis Snyder and a performance at next year’s festival. This year’s event takes place with sponsorship from the D’Addario Foundation for the Performing Arts. Single event ticket prices: $15/adults, $10/students Entire series (five concerts): $40.00/adults, $20.00/students Tickets are available at the door. |
