The 2012 Chancellor's Leadership Academy will hold an open house from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Willis Building.

The summit, "Movement Matters: Physical Activity for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity and Its Co-Morbidities," will be held on Nov. 2 at the East Carolina Heart Institute.

ECU English faculty member and woodworker Andy Bates will donate the proceeds from a sale of his works at Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge to First Lt. Nathan Rimpf's Support Fund. Rimpf is an ECU graduate who was injured in Afghanistan this summer. The reception is open to the public.

The Ethnic Studies Film Series will show "The Only Good Indian," directed by Kevin Willmott with guest introduction of the film by Jennifer Sisk.

The ECU School of Music will present "Bandorama" combined bands concert on Nov. 6. This is a free event and open to the public.

The Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival presents its first Next Generation concert of the 2012-2013 season Nov. 8. This free concert will feature guest artist Raman Ramakrishnan; ECU Alumna Meredith Harris; ECU faculty artists Christopher Buddo, Ara Gregorian, Emanuel Gruber, Hye-Jin Kim, Melissa Reardon and Keiko Sekino alongside numerous current ECU students.

The Office of Military Programs will host a ceremony to dedicate the engraved brick pavers that will be added to the Memorial Walk for 2012.

Sigma Tau Gamma National Fraternity with help from Greek Life at ECU will host the first "Johnny O Bed Race" fundraiser in support of the Johnny O Alzheimer's, Dementia and Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Foundation.

David Lacks, the grandson of Henrietta Lacks, will be on campus to speak about the book that details her contribution to modern medical research. The highly acclaimed "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot, was selected as the Pirate Summer Read this year. Free event.

Film Studies assistant professor Amanda Klein's Film Aesthetics class will screen "The Room" (2003, Tommy Wiseau) which has been called by some critics "'The Citizen Kane' of bad movies" and has generated its own cult following. Free.

This ECU campus-wide study abroad information fair will help students understand the options of studying overseas. This event is part of International Education Week.

Jeremy Popkin of the University of Kentucky and fellow of the National Humanities Center will present, "Victims, Memoirs and Readers: The Haitian Revolution and the Holocaust." The lecture is sponsored by the Atlantic World History Program.

Confused about which fork to use when there's more than one at your place setting? The Career Center is hosting Professional Etiquette Dinner on Nov. 14 for students to learn dining etiquette and networking skills. Deadline to register is Nov. 7.

Meet filmmaker Luke Griswold-Tergi following the screening of his film, "Smokin' Fish," at 7 p.m., Nov. 15 at the Greenville Museum of Art. This is a free event and open to the public.

Manuel, age 9, has an old ball with which he plays football every day in the countryside. He dreams of becoming a great goalkeeper. His wishes seem set to come true when Ernest, his father, gives him a new ball. But an unexpected accident sends the ball flying into a minefield. This film screening is part of International Education Week.
