ECU School of Music Opera Theater presents Jack Beeson's 1965 opera, "Lizzie Borden." The opera, with English libretto by Kenward Elmslie, tells the story of the double axe murders of the title character's father and stepmother in Fall River, Mass., in 1892.

The summit, "Movement Matters: Physical Activity for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity and Its Co-Morbidities," will be held on Nov. 2 at the East Carolina Heart Institute.

ECU English faculty member and woodworker Andy Bates will donate the proceeds from a sale of his works at Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge to First Lt. Nathan Rimpf's Support Fund. Rimpf is an ECU graduate who was injured in Afghanistan this summer. The reception is open to the public.

This free concert will feature guest artist Raman Ramakrishnan; ECU Alumna Meredith Harris; ECU faculty artists Christopher Buddo, Ara Gregorian, Emanuel Gruber, Hye-Jin Kim, Melissa Reardon and Keiko Sekino alongside numerous current ECU students.

Greenville will swing and sway Nov. 18 when the Emerald City Big Band and the Tar River Swing Band take the stage at the ECU School of Music for a big band double bill featuring the music of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Arturo Sandoval, Peggy Lee, Maynard Ferguson and Stan Kenton. Proceeds will benefit jazz scholarships.
