East Carolina operates on a semester calendar with two five-week summer sessions or one eleven-week summer session.

2009

The State Personnel Commission has announced that State employees will observe 11 paid holidays for calendar year 2009. All eligible employees will be paid for the holiday closings. Please note that the holiday schedule may not be altered or changed by any University official without written consent from the Chancellor.

ECU Employees (Except Physician Faculty and CSS staff)
The following holiday schedule will be observed by all University employees except physician faculty at BSOM and CSS staff.

(NOTE: Memorial Day will be observed by the University in 2009)

This schedule reflects the practice of observing Veteran’s Day as an additional holiday during Christmas/Winter Holiday (December 23).

BSOM: Physician Faculty and Clinical Support Services (CSS) Employees
In an effort to better serve our patients and coordinate more closely with the holiday schedule of PCMH, Physician Faculty and Clinical Support Services (CSS) employees will observe the following holiday schedule for the 2009 calendar year.

NOTE: CSS employees will be required to work on Veteran’s Day (November 11) and will receive compensatory holiday time.

CSS employees may click on the CSS Policy Manual link for specific information. Questions regarding the Holiday schedule should be referred to the appropriate HR representative.

The following holiday schedule will be observed by all University employees.

NOTE:  Memorial Day will be observed by the University in 2010.  This schedule reflects the observance of Veteran’s Day as an additional holiday for most employees during Christmas/Winter Break (December 22).  ECU Physicians Clinical Practice will be open on Veteran’s Day.  CSS employees required to work on the Veteran’s Day holiday will receive a floating holiday to be used between November 11, 2010 and December 31, 2010.
