Module Title: “Using Higher Order Thinking Skills to Increase Reading Comprehension”

Module Overview: Participants learn three generative strategies used with students to improve comprehension. These strategies are especially appropriate for reading in content areas and other nonfiction reading passages. Participants learn methods that lead to higher level thinking skills and understanding of informational text. Access to one or more students is needed to complete the requirements for this module.
Technology requirements include the ability to send and receive email with and without attachments, use a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, and access and navigate the Internet, and the use of Blackboard’s digital drop box (directions are provided).
