Reading CEU Modules

As per the most recent legislation, North Carolina teachers in grades K-8 must complete three (3) CEUs in reading methodology in order to be certified. To address this, faculty members in our College of Education have developed a series of online reading modules that will be available for teachers across the state. Teachers may register individually or school systems/individual schools may reserve entire modules allowing teachers to work collaboratively on the strategies and tasks involved.

Each module has been developed by a team comprised of one ECU faculty member and one master public school teacher. Each module requires approximately 10 hours of work in order to earn one (1) CEU of credit toward license renewal. The modules address a variety of topics and are delivered completely online thorugh ECU's online course management system, Blackboard. Before registering for a module, check with your LEA's Licensure Specialist or building administrator for prior approval of CEU coursework.

We are continuing to develop additional modules. While a university faculty member and master teacher develop each module, master teacher/instructors will actually deliver modules and monitor participants' progress.
