Module Title: “Strategies for Accessing and Modifying Text for Struggling Readers”

Grade: K-8

Module Overview: Participants explore various strategies for modifying text to meet the needs of struggling or learning disabled readers within regular classrooms settings. Strategies can be applied to elementary, middle, or high school settings. Teachers explore a variety of strategies for modifying or accessing text and implement at least one of these strategies with one or more students. Access to students is needed to complete the requirements for this module.

Technology requirements include the ability to send and receive email with and without attachments, use a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, and access and navigate the Internet. Additionally, the final product for this module may be submitted via several formats including submission of word processed documents, photographs (scanned or with digital camera), and/or a VHS videotape. This format choice will be determined by the participants in collaboration with the Master Teacher Instructor.
