Module Title: "Teaching Science Content in the Literacy Block"

Module Overview: Participants focus on the use of children’s or young adult literature to teach science concepts and build an inquiry-based classroom. Bybee’s (1966) instructional model for constructivism, referred to as the “Five E’s” (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate), is explored. Access to one or more students is needed to complete the requirements for this module.

Technology requirements include the ability to send and receive email with and without attachments, use a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, and access and navigate the Internet.
