Dr. John J. (Jack) Pikulski

       Dr. John J.  (Jack) Pikulski is a Professor of Education at the University of Delaware.  He is a recognized leader in the International Reading Association, serving on its Board of Directors, and as its President from 1997 to 1998.  Since 1992, he has served, and continues to serve, on the Reading Committee of the National Assessments of Educational Progress (NAEP).  Dr. Pikulski has published numerous articles in professional journals and has authored several professional textbooks.   Since 1980, he has contributed to: Houghton Mifflin Reading Programs; Early Success, an early intervention program; and to the Houghton Mifflin Pre-Kindergarten program.  Dr. Pikulski has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards including an outstanding alumnus award from Temple University, the Farley Distinguished Alumni Award from Wilkes University, and the Delaware Board of Education's Award for Excellence, Distinguished Educator Award from the National Association of Title I Directors.  In addition, he was one of the earliest winners of the IRA's International Award as Outstanding Teacher Educator in Reading.  He also has the honor of having been elected a member of the prestigious Reading Hall of Fame.  Dr. Pikulski has made presentations at over 2,100 professional meetings in all 50 of the United States and 11 other nations.
