History
In 1992, East Carolina University opened the doors of the Assistive Technology Lab in the Speight Building. The lab's humble beginnings provided an exemplary demonstration site for training undergraduate and graduate special educators in the area of assistive technology.
Through the efforts of dedicated professionals such as Dr. David Powers, Dr. Melissa Engleman and Ms. Heather Koren the assistive technology lab expanded its resources and disseminated information on assistive technology through presentations, demonstrations, and direct services.
The Assistive Technology Lab's reputation for providing an environment in which one can learn and receive expert advice regarding the selection and use of assistive technology has been well established as exceptional.
