Counselor Education Association News
NEXT MEETING is scheduled for Wednesday, October 6th at 5pm in Speight 211. SEE YOU THERE!
Just a reminder: If you are one of the many students who live outside the Greenville area or have a busy life and can not manage to make it to the meeting, just know that is OK!
One of the reasons the CEA is here is to help YOU(!) achieve your goal of becoming an Educational Counselor. Part of that is through networking, participating in professional organizations and attending professional events. So even though it would be nice if you were able to be an active participant, the CEA is here for YOU! We understand people have lives( children, significant others and other responsibilities) and are glad to have you in any way we can. So take advantage of the services we provide. Ditch the kids on your spouse (are spouses like super mouses?), let your hair down, socialize with your peers, and attend a conference (it is a good way to relax and work all in one).
What is happening with CEA?
Well the executive board is getting committees together to work on the issues that are up and coming. Committees are meeting to create ideas with emphasis being placed on preparation for the December COAD graduation, a social event (some sort of soiree or pig pickin'), a service project, and to make all this possible a bit of a fundraiser.
Professional Development
The 2004 North Carolina School Counselor Association (NCSCA) Fall Conference is coming up on November 17th-19th in Winston-Salem. For students who are taking 9 hours or more the advanced registration is only $40!The CEA is also trying to get a group together to go to split cost of hotels and transportation. So if you are interested there is a sign up sheet in the COAD office. Registration forms are available at the COAD office.
Recent Events
On September 12th, Dr. Schmidt and his lovely wife Pat opened their home to the CEA for a cook-out, the first of our social events. With good food, drink, and conversation (and also one annoying photographer) all enjoyed the time of camaraderie. (The photographer apologizes if he didn't manage to get a picture of you. Besides he notes none of these pictures do the subjects half the justice they deserve.)
