The Counselor and Adult Education Department has a few Graduate Assistantships allotted each year. Two positions are usually assigned duties in the department to help faculty with instruction or research projects and to assist the office manager and department chair. In addition to these positions, which come through the department, counselor education students are highly thought of by other programs and actively recruited as graduate assistants. Full-time students who want a graduate assistantship rarely have difficulty finding a suitable position in the College of Education or elsewhere on campus.

The Graduate School usually has a few Tuition Waivers available to out-of-state students. These waivers allow students to pay instate tuition for one year while they obtain residency in North Carolina. In past years, the department has been successful in securing a few Tuition Waivers for counselor education students. Applicants should inquire about this possibility when they are interviewed for admission.
