East Carolina University’s College of Education welcomed visitors from Hiroshima University Sept. 18-21.

The international educational exchange and partnership has existed for 20 years, allowing faculty and students from ECU, Pitt County Schools and Hiroshima University to share and learn from each other. Each summer two Pitt County teachers and an ECU faculty member are invited to go to Hiroshima, present at a conference and meet graduate students who will come to ECU in the fall. COE alumna named Executive Director of Student Academic Success at NCCU

COE alumna Kesha T. Lee recently accepted the position of Executive Director of Student Academic Success at North Carolina Central University after serving as Director of Student Disability Services for the past eight years.  In her new role, Kesha will lead all retention and student success initiatives for first and second year students within the University College at NCCU.

ECU College of Education honors scholarship recipients and donors

More than 100 students in East Carolina University’s College of Education have received a record amount of scholarship support for the upcoming academic year. This year, more than $550,000 in merit and need-based scholarships was distributed to 106 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education students. Co-Planning and Co-Teaching: Coast to coast

Dr. Charity Cayton and Dr. Maureen Grady spent much of their summer co-planning and co-teaching from the East Coast to the West Coast. They began in Atlanta, GA in June, where they presented six co-planning strategies at the Annual Conference for the Mathematics Teacher Education Partnership (http://mte-partnership.com/). A few Pirates invaded Raleigh, NC on July 26-28, 2016.  Dr. Charity Cayton, Dr. Maureen Grady, Dr. Ron Preston, and Dr. Katie Schwatz were each invited to share their expertise at the Meredith Mathematics Leadership Institute (MMLI) held in Raleigh, NC.
