Department of Business and Information Technologies Education
As a student in East Carolina's Department of Business and Information Technologies Education, you will receive a cutting-edge education that will prepare you to make a positive difference. You can choose from majors in business education, marketing education, and information technologies, each of which will help you open doors to a fulfilling future.

Department of Elementary & Middle Grades Education
The Department of Elementary and Middle Grades Education offers undergraduate degrees with teaching licensure in elementary education and four content areas in middle grades education.  The department also offers graduate degrees in elementary education and middle grades education.  The programs are committed to the preparation of teachers who are knowledgeable, reflective, technologically proficient, and skilled in meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

Department of Educational Leadership

The Department of Educational Leadership offers three degree programs and two licensure-only programs to prepare individuals for positions as educational leaders. The degree programs include the Master of School Administration (MSA); Educational Specialist (EdS); and Doctor of Education (EdD). The North Carolina licensure-only programs include the principal add-on license and the Curriculum Instructional Specialist add-on license.

Department of Higher, Adult, and Counselor Education

The Department of Higher, Adult, and Counselor Education programs can help you prepare for a rewarding career as a counselor or education professional working in adult, continuing, or higher education settings. You will be empowered with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to be successful in your service to others. Your coursework and field experiences will help you learn to think critically and practice proficiently, giving you the strong foundation of both theory and practice you'll need to be effective in your chosen field.

Department of Library Science

The Department of Library Science offers a master of library science (MLS) degree completely online. The MLS program is especially attuned to the needs of non-traditional students seeking to become school media coordinators or public librarians who are prepared to meet the informational and educational needs of their communities, especially for rural and underserved populations in eastern North Carolina.

Department of Literacy Studies, English & History Education
The Department of Literacy Studies, English education and History education offers undergraduate degrees with teaching licensure in English education and history education.  The department also offers graduate degrees in with teaching licensure in reading education, English education and history education.  The programs are designed to produce teachers who are reflective practitioners who provide professional service to the community, the state, and the nation.

Department of Mathematics, Science and Instructional Technology 
Education

As an undergraduate student in the Department of Science, Mathematics, and Instructional Technology Education, you can prepare for a rewarding and exciting career as a science or mathematics teacher through programs known for their quality and innovation. Later, you can pursue graduate-degree opportunities in mathematics education, science education, or instructional technology. The department also supports the development of science, mathematics, and technology integration at all academic levels.

Department of Special Education, Foundations & Research
The Department of Special Education, Foundation and Research offers undergraduate degrees with teaching licensure in special education – general and adapted curriculum.The department also offers graduate degrees with teaching licensure in special education – learning disabilities, emotional and behavior disorders, intellectual disabilities or low incidence disabilities.The department also offers three graduate certificates in assistive technology, autism, and deaf-blindness.
