Time Restrictions
A student has six years in which to complete all requirements for the degree. Most students will be expected to complete the program in less than that time.
Licensure
This K-12 program operates on the assumption that students already possess an initial license in educational administration or supervision. The program leads to Level II licensure in educational administration or a Level II license in supervision. To receive a license update in North Carolina, EDD graduates must submit the following items to the Department of Educational Leadership: licensure forms (forms U and V), cover sheet, a check for $55.00 (written to DPI), and a transcript release form.
Additional Admission Requirement
Completion of a master's degree. Must also hold Level I supervision and/or administration for K-12 program. (Some educational leadership experience is preferred). If the degree is in a field other than educational leadership, prerequisite courses may be prescribed.
Applicants who meet minimum admission requirements will also be requested to complete an impromptu writing sample and interview with the faculty in the department. Those eligible candidates will be contacted within a few weeks after the March 15 deadline.
