Students are admitted to the MSA and EdS programs three times a year : fall, spring, and summer. Deadlines for receipt of all admission materials are: fall admission, June 1; spring admission, October 15; and summer admission, March 15.

Students are admitted to the EdD program only once a year in the fall.  Deadline for materials in this program is March 15.

To apply to a program, applicants should:

     1. Secure a self-managed admissions application packet from the Graduate School, East Carolina University, 131 Ragsdale, Greenville, NC 27858-4353 (telephone: 252-328-6012). The degree code used for the school administration (MSA) is 210; educational specialist (EdS) is 264; and the doctorate in educational leadership (EdD) is 360. Applications can be downloaded from the World Wide Web(http://www.ecu.edu/gradschool).

     2. Take the GRE or MAT if the scores are more than five years old. These tests can be taken at the Testing Center, East Carolina University, D-102 Brewster, Greenville, NC 27858-4353 (telephone: 252-328-6811). Official score must accompany packet in order for it to be considered complete.

     3. Have transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work sent to the Graduate School as specified in the application packet.

     4. The EdD program has an additional requirement: a writing sample and resume must accompany the packet. 

Once the application file is completed and received by the department, the faculty review all materials and make a recommendation to the Graduate School. The Graduate School notifies all applicants as to whether the application has been accepted or rejected. 

Please note that the number of applications from qualified individuals generally exceed the number of spaces available for new students; therefore, meeting the guidelines listed does not guarantee admission into a program.
