History Education - Undergraduate

The History Education program, in partnership with the public schools, provides comprehensive social studies experiences that involve clinical school experiences.

The program is committed to the preparation of teachers who are knowledgeable and reflective practitioners, technologically proficient, and skilled in meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

The program places an emphasis on service through faculty participation in the improvement of the public schools and assistance in the development and creation of educational policy for North Carolina, as well as support for scholarship and research/creative activity.

ECU College of Education honors scholarship recipients and donors

More than 100 students in East Carolina University’s College of Education have received a record amount of scholarship support for the upcoming academic year. This year, more than $550,000 in merit and need-based scholarships was distributed to 106 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education students. Glenesha Berryman named Outstanding First-Year Student by Phi Kappa Phi

Glenesha Berryman, an EC Scholar and member of the Honors College, has been recognized by the ECU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society, as the Outstanding First-Year Student for 2015-2016. She was awarded a plaque and a check for $500 from the chapter at the annual initiation ceremony on Sunday, April 11, 2016. Berryman is from a military family and the first in her family to attend college. She made the journey to ECU from Seoul, South Korea, where she finished high school. Continue reading →

Freshman education major recognized by top honor society

The ECU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society has named Glenesha D. Berryman as the Outstanding First-Year student at ECU for the 2015-2016 year. Berryman is studying English education in the College of Education and is also completing an English major in the Harriot College Department of English. She is an EC Scholar and member of the Honors College.

ECU education student receives Fulbright Award

An ECU Honors College student and triple major Daniel Franch has been named a recipient of an English teaching assistant award from the highly-competitive Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Franch, who is graduating in May with a degree in history, history education and German, is one of 140 students in the United States to receive a $30,000 grant that will support his international experience in East Germany teaching English for a year.
