Benefits

Undergraduate Student Benefits

  • Award of $10,000 per year for up to two years for undergraduate juniors and seniors pursuing a major in mathematics, science, or engineering AND teaching licensure. (Rising seniors may apply for one year of funding.)
  • Outstanding preparation through coursework and field experience/internships designed to equip new teachers with the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to educate all middle or secondary students (including English Language Learners and students with disabilities).
  • High quality advising by ECU faculty with knowledge and experience in the field of study.
  • Individualized plan of study with ongoing advising (from both the content and specialized education area) and assistance.
  • Referral support to explore employment opportunities.
  • Two-year mentoring support upon entering teaching that complements induction programs offered by local school districts. The mentoring program will allow Noyce faculty to support you as well as gain valuable information about needs of initially-licensed teachers.

Graduate Student Benefits

  • Award of $17,680 for one year of graduate study in the MAT in Science Education or the MAT in Middle Grades Education (concentrating in either mathematics or science).
  • Intensive, fast-paced, one-year program (including summers) designed to move content specialists into teacher licensure efficiently.
  • Outstanding preparation through coursework and field experience/internships designed to equip new teachers with the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to educate all middle or secondary students (including English Language Learners and students with disabilities).
  • High quality advising by ECU faculty with knowledge and experience in the field of study.
  • Individualized plan of study with ongoing advising (from both the MAT program and the specialty area) and assistance.
