Sandra Harvey, Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Harvey developed a Toolbox for Recruitment and Retention during the time she was directing the Golden LEAF Educational Consortium in the College of Education. Recognizing that teacher recruitment and retention is an issue facing school systems, the toolbox was designed to be used as a resource for superintendents, human resource personnel, principals and other interested educators. It is filled with research-based recruitment and retention strategies from North Carolina, other states, other countries and governments to meet the needs of individual schools and school systems. The toolbox is available in document form, CD and is on the COE website and was sent to every school system in North Carolina in September, 2005.
