Drs. Corbin and Covington were selected as co-recipients of the 2007 Howard A. Dawson Best Research Paper Award. The award will be presented at the National Rural Education Association (NREA) Research Symposium Luncheon held during the NREA Centennial Convention in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on November 10, 2007. Drs. Corbin and Covington will present, “Factors Influencing Rural High School Students’ Decisions to Teach,” at the convention.

Dr. Diane Kester, Associate Professor and Chair Emerita of the Library Science and Instructional Technology Department at East Carolina University has been named a Distinguished Graduate Alumni from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill by the Graduate School and the School of Information and Library Science. Dr. Kester (1990) earned her Ph.D. in Library Science and served as Chair of the LSIT Department from 1997 – 2004 and a faculty member until 2007.
