Dr. Jami Joneshas recentlypublished a book titled “Bouncing Back: Dealing With the Stuff Life Throws at You.” The book discusses how teens can be resilient and cope with stress. It provides example situations from various teen at the beginning of each chapter and then it offers possible solutions by the end.

Dr. Atkinson is also the 2007 winner of the John G. Clark, Jr. Memorial Award. This is an annual award sponsored by the Board of Trustees of the Sheppard Memorial Library. Receipt of this award recognizes Dr. Atkinson for all she is doing to help an ECU employee learn how to read. The award will be presented to her on January 16, 2008.
