Students and Faculty Interested in Enhancing Adult Education will attend Annual NCAEA Conference
New Bern, NC - The 2005 North Carolina Adult Education Association (NCAEA) Annual Conference will be held at the Sheraton New Bern Hotel and Marina in New Bern, NC October 9–11, 2005. This year’s theme is Educational Enhancement for Lifetime Advancement: Preparing the Workforce to Meet the Challenges of the Changing Workplace. Many adult education students and faculty from the College of Education plan to attend. Counselor and Adult Education Chair, Dr. Vivian Mott, says the conference is, “A valuable venue for students in Counselor & Adult Education; Leadership Education; Business, Career, and Technology Education; Library Science and Instructional Technology; as well as colleagues in the community college system and business/industry, and government.”
The purpose of the NCAEA is to support the professional development of adult and continuing educators in North Carolina. It also provides opportunities for adult and continuing educators at the post-secondary level to exchange information, plan, and carry out activities based on the purposes of the Association; and promotes and interprets the value and contribution of adult and continuing education programs in North Carolina.
The NCAEA hopes this year’s conference will inspire adult educators across the state to share individual and institutional examples of how adult educators continue to meet the needs of adult students through programs, research and student services. The conference will address the changing employment environment in North Carolina. Peter Neean, Ph.D., Director, Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Security
Commission of North Carolina will kick off the conference addressing training/retraining from the state government/state-wide prospective. Conference presenters will focus on the ever-changing employment requirements and how state wide constituencies are meeting the needs.
