Curriculum and Instruction TeleForum Partnership
Gears Up for Interactive Video-Conference Featuring Dr. Renee Hobbs
Dr. Renee Hobbs from Temple University will be the speaker for the Curriculum and Instruction TeleForum partnership between East Carolina University and North Carolina State University. The interactive video-conference will be held on Monday, September 26th from 4:00-5:30 EST in the Global Classroom (room 144 A-C) located in the Science and Technology Building on the East Carolina University campus.
Renee Hobbs is one of the nation’s leading authorities on media education. Her research examines the development of media analysis and media production skills, particularly in the context of K-12 education. Her most recent quantitative research to assess the impact of media literacy on the development of students’ reading comprehension and critical thinking skills has been published in Reading Research Quarterly. She also has interests in the uses of technology in schools, youth media production, educational multimedia design and development, and program evaluation. She has worked as a journalist and has a special interest in news making, school journalism, and the role of journalism in contemporary society.
