ECU OFFERS DEGREE OPPORTUNITIES IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION, SPECIAL EDUCATION AND MIDDLE GRADES EDUCATION ON COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUSES

 

In response to the need for more teachers, East Carolina University College of Education is offering degree opportunities in elementary education, special education, and middle grades education through Wachovia Partnership East.The degree programs will be delivered at the three Wachovia Partnership East hub site campuses:   Craven Community College, Rocky Mount Campus of Edgecombe Community College, and Wayne Community College.  Classes will begin in August 2005 for elementary majors; January 2006 for special education majors; and May 2006 for middle grades math/science education majors.

Wachovia Partnership East is designed to allow students to complete their general education coursework at one of the partnering community colleges and then transfer into the ECU program to complete their junior and senior years of the teaching degree in elementary education, special education, or middle grades education. Classes will be taught by ECU faculty via face to face instruction at the hub site community college campus, online delivery, or blended delivery models.

Currently there are plans to begin a new elementary education cohort at each site in Fall 2006; future special education and middle grades cohorts will be announced.  Applications are due by October 1 for special education majors; February 1 for middle grades education majors; and February 15 for elementary education majors.
