Greenville, NC - Alan Faulkner, an ECU senior, received the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics Outstanding Mathematics Education Student Award at the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics Awards Breakfast, Koury Convention Center, Greensboro, NC on Friday, October 31, 2008.  Dr. Bampia Bangura, chair of the committee, recognized Alan’s academic excellence and his exceptional service to the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics, teachers of mathematics, and mathematics students in eastern North Carolina. First Ron Clark Academy Clinical Experience Awarded

Greenville, NC - Carla K. Watson was selected to be the first East Carolina University (ECU) student to participate in a junior clinical experience at the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) in Atlanta, Georgia.  Watson is majoring in middle grades education with concentrations in mathematics education and social studies. Watson will return to ECU to finish her degree and complete her senior year internship after her clinical experience in Atlanta, Georgia.  While Watson is at RCA she will also be full time online student.  more...

Math and Science Teachers Take a Field Trip

Greenville, NC - Eastern North Carolina teachers got some real-world experience Friday by touring two Pitt County industries that use math and science every day.  Nearly 30 teachers from counties all over eastern North Carolina including Pitt, Lenoir, Wayne and Halifax toured the CMI Plastics and The Roberts Company as part of the program to increase awareness of real-life business practices that incorporate math and technology.  more...
