This office is responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing data associated with measurable outcomes and guided by the mission and goals of the University and the College. We strive to provide the information and expertise necessary for effective planning and decision-making. In addition, the office also provides services and resources connected with instructional technology, teacher accountability, Taskstream, and standardized tests.

ncdpiNorth Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI)

The NC DPI administers the NC State Board of Education's process for approval of teacher education programs leading to initial teaching licensure, advanced teaching licensure, and licensure in other school professional areas. ECU offers numerous programs and pathways through which graduates may earn licensure as classroom teachers, administrators, school counselors, library media specialists, instructional technology facilitators, school psychologists, school social workers, and speech-language pathologists.

BlackBoard: Training Dates and How-to Guides


Snagit is a image-based screen capturing program with many educational uses, including software tutorials, narrated PowerPoint presentations, narrated lecture notes and other training.


Yammer is ECU’s internal communication platform. It allows for conversation, questions and collaboration within a private ECU social network. Yammer has been described as Facebook + Twitter for the enterprise. Think in terms of using Yammer to ask the network participants questions, share what you are doing and share your ideas.

Yammer can be accessed using your ECU username and password and offers web access, desktop apps and mobile apps for reading, reviewing and posting. 

Media Site:

Mediasite is an enterprise webcasting, lecture capture and hybrid event platform. Mediasite webcasting technology completely automates the recording, distribution, management and analytics of high-quality video and multimedia presentations.

Syllabi System:

The new COE Syllabi System provides syllabi consistency across course sections and provides a centralized syllabi collection system in the COE. The Syllabi System is being piloted in Spring 2012 by faculty in select undergraduate and graduate courses.


Starfish is an early-alert retention tool that works through Blackboard to support student academic success at ECU. Through Starfish faculty can inform students of their academic performance within a course and connect students to appropriate support resources. Amanda Blakely named first North Carolina Student Teacher of the Year

Amanda Blakely, 2016 ECU Graduate in Birth-Kindergarten, was named the first North Carolina Student Teacher of the Year by North Carolina Association for Colleges and Teacher Educators (NC-ACTE) at their Fall forum on September 21 in Raleigh, NC. The NC-ACTE is the organization that unites teacher educators in both public and private colleges and universities, staff and faculty in state created initiatives and consortia, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, according to their website. edTPA Data Summit 2016

The College of Education’s Office of Assessment, Accreditation and Data Management hosted the third annual Data Summit on June 8, to share edTPA performance data with faculty and discuss strategic plans for program improvement.  The event was open to all edTPA liaisons (TPALs) and department chairs.  Individual departments throughout the College of Education are now holding their own data summits to review student performance data and develop plans for program improvement. ECU College of Education Hosts First EdcampECU

The ECU College of Education successfully hosted its first EdcampECU on Saturday, April 23 at Speight and Rivers Buildings. The event drew over sixty participants including  teachers, media coordinators, instructional technology specialists, and school district personnel from across the region and several ECU Faculty members.  EdcampECU followed the unique “unconference” format with sessions being suggested by participants during the conference.
