Welcome to the Office of Clinical Experiences!

The Office of Clinical Experiences (OCE) is a part of the Office of Educator Preparation at East Carolina University. Its mission is to provide quality practicum and internship experiences for all education students. The major responsibilities of the OCE include: identifying and confirming placements, disseminating a time line of activities and expectations of the program to clinical teachers, maintaining continual contact with school personnel, and providing support and training to clinical teachers and university supervisors. All clinical experience placements are arranged through the OCE in partnership with the 39 public school systems in the Latham Clinical Schools Network.

Ryanne Hilliard selected as finalist for NCACTE Student Teacher of the Year Award
Ryanne Hilliard selected as finalist for NCACTE Student Teacher of the Year Award   In 2016 the North Carolina Association for Colleges and Teacher Educators (NCACTE) initiated the Student Teacher of the Year Award. Ryanne Hilliard (B.S. Mathematics Education, B.A. Mathematics) was selected to represent ECU in the 2018 awards process. Ms. Hilliard was recently selected as one of 10 state finalists for the award. Student veteran throws out first pitch at ECU Baseball
Isaiah Ybarra, a 10-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran and East Carolina University history education major, threw out the honorary first pitch at the ECU Baseball “Salute to Service” series on Friday, May 11. Ybarra is a member of the ECU College of Education’s Student Veterans’ Resource Alliance (SVRA), which serves student veterans interested in becoming educators. The SVRA provides student veterans with opportunities in leadership, resource assistance, advocacy, professional development, and outreach. NC New Teacher Support Program to Relocate to East Carolina University
The University of North Carolina System has announced that the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP) will relocate from the UNC System office to the campus of East Carolina University beginning this July. The NC NTSP is a comprehensive, university-based induction program offering a research-based curriculum and multiple services designed to promote teacher retention and improve the effectiveness of beginning teachers.
