Welcome to the Office of Clinical Experiences!

The Office of Clinical Experiences (OCE) is a part of the Office of Educator Preparation at East Carolina University. Its mission is to provide quality practicum and internship experiences for all education students. The major responsibilities of the OCE include: identifying and confirming placements, disseminating a time line of activities and expectations of the program to clinical teachers, maintaining continual contact with school personnel, and providing support and training to clinical teachers and university supervisors. All clinical experience placements are arranged through the OCE in partnership with the 39 public school systems in the Latham Clinical Schools Network.

ECU College of Education hosts Annual Ceremony to Honor Scholarship Recipients, Donors
Video Slideshow from Donor and Scholarship Recipient Ceremony More than 100 students in the East Carolina University College of Education received a record amount of scholarship support for the upcoming academic year. For the 2017-18 academic year, more than $582,000 in merit and need-based scholarships were distributed to 102 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education students. ECU Awarded Grant to Enhance STEM Education
The East Carolina University College of Education was recently awarded a $599,939 grant from the National Science Foundation to improve undergraduate STEM education. Project INTERSECT (Interactive STEM Education Competence in Teaching) will address the nature and role of discipline-specific discourse in the classroom. The goal of the project is to explore how training with immersive classroom simulation activities affect the ability of ECU math and science teacher candidates use of discourse as a means of instruction. Mursion ‘Grants’ Draw Six School Districts to ECU
The East Carolina University College of Education Mursion team hosted leaders from six counties on Thursday, July 27, that have decided to take advantage of an offer to use Mursion@ECU as part of their professional development plan for the 2017-18 school year.
