Teacher Induction and Mentoring Initiatives

The Office of Professional Development actively supports new teacher induction programs throughout the Latham Clinical Schools Network.

Recently, ECU’s College of Education and Pitt County Schools, a partnership under the auspices of Teachers for a New Era (TNE) & The Learning Network (LN), have been selected as recipients of the NTC Teacher Induction Professional Development Trainings funded by the Carnegie Corporation.  The grant will provide instructional mentoring training for selected Pitt County Schools teachers and administrators during the 2007-08 academic year.  The goal of the program is to link the preservice teacher education program at ECU with the Beginning Teacher Support Program in Pitt County Schools to provide a seamless transition from teacher education candidate to new teacher.

ECU-Pitt County Schools Partnership Training Dates

  • November 26-27, 2007 – Fall Induction Institute.  Suzanne Riley of the New Teacher Center at UC-Santa Cruz will lead this professional development session.  Location TBA.
