A bachelor's degree in elementary education prepares teachers for
classrooms in grades kindergarten through sixth grade.  Wells Fargo
Partnership East (WPE) students concentrate in reading which
provides additional licensure to teach reading in kindergarten through
twelfth grade.

Wells Fargo Partnership East usually starts cohorts of elementary
education majors each fall.  The degree coursework is offered through
distance education including online delivery and some face to face
interaction at local consortia hub sites as well as through the Virtual
Consortium.  To join Wells Fargo Partnership East, students must meet
the requirements listed on the general description webpage
as well as submit a WPE application to a WPE Coordinator and a
Freshman/Transfer application to the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions at East Carolina University.  Students who participate in the
Virtual Consortium must have access to the technology required as
described in the Technology Requirements.

Students who live  within one hour of a community college hub site are
encouraged to join a WPE cohort at a community college hub site.  For
those who live farther than one hour from any hub site the Virtual
Consortium offers the ECU coursework through online delivery.
